Please see the message I posted last week. In it, I said that a feature allowing you to contact the uploader will be made available on the details page. In the event that the uploader is non-compliant or has dropped off the face of the earth, the administrators will do it for you.

Out of curiousity, how many such shows are there here?

a ton. i think i have about 70 shows on here and i probably uploaded half

i don't see why i should have to contact the uploader. it's my show. the fact that someone else downloaded it and then sent it here shouldn't change anything

I've uploaded 4 of your shows (PMB 2-11-01, PMB
6-15-01, PMB 7-7-01, and HDAY 3-19-01) and have already checked the 'no mp3' option for them.

cool! i hope i didn't come off as an ass before, but i think you know what i mean. it seems like a hassle to find a lot of people people who uploaded various shows when you could just talk to the person who taped them and figure it out in 1 shot

Sure, I know what you mean. It's mainly an issue of burden on the administrators. The volunteer admins here are already taxed... we all need to pitch in, specifically when the work is a result of an individual preference. If you don't want lossy versions made of shows you have taped, you can contact those who have uploaded your shows so they can make the change. This will take you no more time than it would for the administrators (they'd still have to go through every details page, uncheck the box, and also let the uploader know so he or she doesn't think it's a mistake and uncheck the box). This will also insure that people uploading your concerts know your preference regarding lossy versions and will honor it in the future when adding new shows.

I hope that clarifies a bit. Thanks for your patience and understanding during this process.

Oh, and I checked: your name appears in the taper field for 84 shows. You uploaded 37 of them. Thanks for being such an active contributor both on this site and in the community :)

This is less about the lossy options, but if the admins are taxed... how does an interested member of the archive.org community become a volunteer? What are some of archive.org's needs w.r.t. the LlaMA? I'm interested in helping in whatever ways I can, and perhaps there are others who are similarly motivated.
